Hell yea! congrats on the reviews, I agree that this is a MUCH better game than 3. I was hoping the CAB would work as well as Tiger Woods, but if that is my only complaint then that is a good thing.  This game has lived up to my expectations

it's impossible to satisfy everyone, and the unsatisfied is the biggest group of complainers, naturally.

Congratulations, although I haven't got the game yet.

FNR4 is actually an incredible game. Being a boxer, I can honestly say that it is close to the strategy you use in the ring i.e. Swinging for the fences never works. Graphics are incredible. The customization as far as apparel is awesome. Couple probs. with Legacy Mode like not being able to switch up your "style", other than that it's really good, and it blows FNR3's career  mode out of the water. Just wondering, I've heard some stuff about custom music. Is that possible for PS3, or just 360 or vice versa or even at all. Gonna be kinda pissed if it's just for 360 (like most games) as I have a PS3. Overall awesome experience and an accurate interpretation of the real sport. It's hilarious getting some people together and playing this kind of game, everyone has a good time. Thanks EA!

OK. I got the game today, even though I said I wouldn't.....

and I owe EA Canada the absolute DEEPEST, MOST SINCERE, HUMBLING apology that a man can give. I almost shed a tear at how awful I was to you all without giving this game a chance, because it is without a doubt, the BEST fight night EVER!!!!!

I never knew the stick could feel so fluid and fun! If only I would have given you guys a chance earlier when the game first came out.

I feel so ashamed at the way I acted. Please accept my very honest apology, as this game is seriously on a level of its own!!!

This game is weak, I got it, played for 15 minutes and took it out! Popped Round 3 back in. I had played the demo prior to its release, but thought the actual game may be better. The online sucks, No Lobbies, you are not able to strategically plan your attack, no putting a hurt on a damaged eye, just a million fists a minute! it's like "Lets see how fast you can move your joystick in various patterns to see what kind of combo you create". I am selling mine if anyone is interested... Leave me a message on my PS3 SN above... My new SN that I am using is FUK-RD-4 - For real though.... weak shit.

This game is outstanding. You guys have corrected most of the issues that I had with FNR3. The game is very fluid and life-like, and I've been using TPC since the start so the combinations aren't difficult for me. I think the footwork could be a little better (fighters seem to "get stuck" once they are on the inside and it's a little difficult to separate, and diagonal directions aren't very pronounced), and I don't like how slow the haymakers are (but way better than FNR3), but those are my only gripes so far.

FNR4>FNR2>FN2004>FNR3. FNR3 was incredibly slow and robotic. I disagree with everyone who says that was the best in the series. I think the opposite is true; it was the worst in the series in terms of gameplay. FNR4 is now the best in terms of gameplay and graphics.

Great job. And I look forward to some killer DLC.

A great game no complaints, i'm more than happy to have spent my money on this game.

Everything is great but you can't please everyone, im glad there's no button's, i love andd hate the one punch knockout simply because it goes for and against you and its cruel just as boxing is, with grasping victory for the jaws of defeat.

If i wanted something added and this may sound greedy it would have been more fighters.

Mayweather is a huge loss not to have in this along with  no De La Hoya, Hopkins, Mariciano,Hollyfield, Kessler Juan Manuel Marquez Joe Louis and other greats.

Great work, but don't  take 3-4 years to make another one!!!!

all these negative comments are obviously from people who do not take time to play the game. and people who say the ai the boxers either just come out swing or just block are talking b****ks because every fight i had had on fight night is completely different and if u get an oppenent who just block you gotta just wait for your opening and also if they are quick on there feet you dont chase them round the ring you cut the angles off. EA this game is brilliant just short of 10/10 dnt listen to idiots who dnt give it a chance or dnt like it coz they cant do the training mode. for next fight night all that is left to do is hiring and firing of trainers and where your gym is based. Fight night round 4 9.5/10.

Maybe my expectations were to high but, im still waiting for a boxing game that's realistic.  I played against others on xbox live and i played against the  game and its still just non- stop punching.  In real boxing after a fighter throws a few punches (4-5) he needs  to either back off or reset of clinch to regroup this game is just punch punch punch until the bell rings.  It like watching rocky 2.   The punch output per round is WAy too high!  Shoulda made it so after  a couplle of punches are thrown,  stamina drops off and no more punches can be thrown until a certain level of stamina is returned.  Very unrealistic!  Also whats up with the limited ability to create a boxer?  Dissapointed.

dylanrock83 said:

July 2, 2009 6:44 AM

my only complaint is in the career mode. It takes way too long to build up your boxer and make him an all around fighter. If you pick Ali, I don't think it is possible to get up to his default 92 overall before he gets too old and starts to go down hill. EA either needs to reduce the number of attributes (which they shouldn't) or increase the amount points for workouts. Plus, you should get points to winning fights! I mean rating points, not these stupid EA points that allow you the option of using extra gloves or trunks. WTF? I don't care to look through all the defaults anyway. Such a waste. But besides that, the actual gameplay is great.

To REIGN101  if your a boxer and like this game you must really suck!! because there is no way in real life the 1st punch to the body hurts the same as the 250th like in FNR4. It is a very big disappointment overall i had hopes this would improve of FNR3 and it did not and what gives with not having the button config!!! the stick is not as responsive as i want it or throw the right punch when i want it very frustrating i should of known better i have sworn of other EA titles cause they always screw them up. What a waste of 60 bucks. If you want to play this game rent it first and to JamieF86 your full of S&^% i have fought 5 fives in a row and all the AI does is block his face and i punch him in the body of 250 times and he never switches and blocks his body just his head all i do is a left hook to the body all fight long and win cause the AI wont take his hands away from his face!!

Why oh WHY was the button configuration taken out of this game?! Not everyone likes the Total Punch Control (TPC for short). In fact, I HATE it! Before anyone says anything, yes I gave it a try. Many, many, many times and every time I do it for any length of time I end up throwing the wrong punches half the time! For example: I very clearly make the right analog stick to move so my fighter throws a hook, but 50% of the time he ends up throwing a dumb upper cut when that punch is NOT the one I  indicated my fighter to throw! That's why I HATE the TPC! Button mashing is MUCH more accurate. I throw what I want, when I want, how I want.

Before anyone comments on this, let me tell you. Button mashing DOES work. In fact, my Dad is very very good at these games and he relies on the TPC. I'm a button masher. Guess what? About 98% of the time, I beat him. Even if I chose a fighter, and I have, that has the clear disadvantage, I still beat him. It got to the point where my Dad no longer even fights me anymore cause I beat him most of the time. All this with button mashing.

It does work and why this game does not have the option is beyond me, but all I know is EA Sports did a VERY bad move by not including it in this game. Very bad. Hopefully, enough fans will cry out and EA sports will come out with an update for this game that includes the button configeration for us button mashers. I've always been a button masher, always will be. MUCH more accurate, even with games that aren't this one.

Because of the lame TPC, the training games are more of a pain in the butt than they are fun. Like I said before, half the time I throw punches I clearly did NOT have my fighter throw, yet he throws the unintended punch Very ANNOYING and frustrating! This makes the Punching Bag Combos training game impossible for me to beat or get a good score on.

A game is supposed to be fun, NOT frustrating to the point you want to grab it out of the PS3 and snap it in half or better yet, return it for a refund, making EA sports lose money, which is fine by me. I almost quit playing this game because there is no option to punch using the buttons.

Word to EA Sports. PLEASE re-release this game to include a button configuration. Good game, but every time I play it I wish I could use the buttons to punch. And I'll gladly prove the buttons are SUPERIOR to the TPC any day of the week.

I been waitin for this game to come out for at least a year. I think that the Fight Night series is one of the best if not the best boxing series to date. However, I was a bit dissapointed when it finally arrived. First off, I have never been a fan of TPC. In FNR3 I used configuration 3 which allows use of the buttons and the TPC. This had to be the biggest dissapointment of the game. Secondly, I am glad that the invisible barrier in FNR3 has been removed in FNR4. However, I have noticed that when you do fight inside it's difficult to get your opponent off of you. The only solution I found was to push your opponent off of you. I hope in the future as an add-on we are able to download boxers that appeared on previous FNs and upload them to FNR4, i.e. Holyfiled, Marciano, & Hopkins. Let's bring back configuration 3 from FNR3 on FNR5 if there is one. That configuration makes it so much more of a better game. Wth that configuration you are be suited to execute the right combos versus winging it with TPC.

OK..I've been playing the FIGHT NIGHT series back when it was KNOCKOUT KINGS 1999.. The face buttons has been a part of the game since the begining. when FN3 came out with the analog formats, I thought it was a brilliant Idea, cuz it's like real life, you should pick you punches well, but EEEEVERYBODY online switched to the face buttons, so theres no hope for a anolog boxer.. WHEN I found out that FN4 was all anolog, I was so fucking happy..button mashers were reduced to THINKING and they HATE that...who cares if most online boxers try to throw a million punches to the body, switch your stance to the opposite of who youre facing, jab out, move and keep feeding that uppercut inside, OR a body blaster is easily killed if you block, block, then punch him back in the belly, cuz his stamina will go down, and when you hit his belly, his it'll drop even more, so in other words, any body blaster in my way, will get drained instantly..like in REAL LIFE.. a dude runs up to you, digs his head in your chest and dig away to the ribs, that FREEZES you, your legs cant move, ect.. i love this game for that, you gotta time em coming in...anywayz, if button mashers dont wanna deal with the analog sticking, fuckem, we dont need mashers ANYWAYZ!! I was rank #13 in the world in fight night 3, I've beeten #1 many times, so as a FN ADDICT, the analog is the way to go..another thing, in FN3 a button masher can completly, destroy a rookie, in FN4, eeeverybody has a chance... you almost have to be a boxing fan to play FN3 but in FN4, even my wife gets all into it... myspace.com/jermz187

ScOOt4, wish I was as sweet as you and chirpped people over the internet. I said it was an accurate interpretation. YES, punch output is too high in some cases, but guarenteed, if you conserve your boxer's energy and fight smart, you will wear out your opponent. What made it accurate is how it is a game of milimeters, much like the actual sport. Not every punch is definite, and those that are, really sting to and do damage, and hands and arms do get tangled up in the real sport, much like the actual sport. Counter punches etc. are important, much like the real sport. Inside fighting gets dirty and hard to control, much like the real sport. you see the pattern as far as boxer posistion and impeccable timing are concerned. As far as REAL boxing is concerned, I think it is hilarious that your calling me on, when I can guess that you've never been to a boxing gym in your life, and probably never will. I know DOZENS of people like you, those that criticize, but never do. My coach and I have this sort of discussion all the time, and people like you are only a minor trial in my journey, nothing more than a footnote. Chirp me back all you want, I could really care less...

I have not played it yet and its funny cause the day i was going to buy it i got the word from a friend that you cant change the punches to the buttons and that stoped me from going to get it.  With that being said im not sure if more people would rather play with the buttons or joystick but point is that you should have that option.  Ive supported every Fight Night that came out but not Round 4 due to the fact i cant fight how i like.  It kinda has me mad cause i was dieng to use Mike Tyson but i dont feel playing with the joystick that you have total control of what punch you wanna throw and when you throw it.  So if Round 5 has the option ill be so happy that i would buy Round 4 just because they fixed the biggest prob that i seem to have with the game.  BIG D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NEW JERSEY

Hey goon84, its actually very realistic, as height and reach matter, as well as there are punches that connect differently as far as glancing blows and ones that really have a solid connection. I have only one gripe, which is that punch output is too high, and spammers make use of that. If EA fixed that, it would be pretty much the most realistic boxing experience ever. Other than that, its awesome. Oh, and buy a PS3 brother, and fight the Power! Pce

i just want to ask what is happening with Felix "Tito" Trinidad ?He fought with the best guy at their best moment. He defeated Oscar de La Hoya, David Reid, Joppy, Mayorga, Vargas, Pernell Whitaker, Yori Boy Campas, Hector Macho Camacho, also i would like to see Hector Macho Camacho too in the game. He lost only 3 fights.(Hopkins, Wright and Jones). I think Felix ''Tito'' Trinidad should be in this game. I invite anybody to see his career, nobody would be dissapointed.
